2011 Bing & Grondahl Christmas Plate

This years Christmas Plate entitled " Home for Christmas " was made by he Bing & Grondahl Porcelain Factory, and shows a farmer herding his sheep into the barn. The plate is # 117 in the series, which has been issued since 1895 and is the world's oldest series of collectibles. This year's motif was created by Jorgen Nielsen. The master model is destroyed at the end of the each year, making it impossible to reproduce the motif again. The motif appears in relief and the plate is hand decorated in blue underglaze colors. To guarantee authenticity, the plate bears Bing & Grondahl's logo with the three towers and the initials of the painter.
