Description:
Blue Flower Braided (Plain) is a porcelain coffee, tea and dinner service. The service was designed in the 1770's and about 100 years later it was re-designed by Arnold Krog, Artistic Manager of the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory.
The service was called Braided because the blue flowers are framed by a relief border in a basket weave. The blue bouquets and all lids are topped with modeled tulip buds. the service is decorated with different bouquets that are still painted completely by hand and they consist of three elements: the main bouquet with the central flower, leaves and buds. The central flower may be a tulip, a rose, a poppy, a carnation, a marguerite, or an aster.
The painter designs the bouquets. The decoration has an everlasting freshness and grace that is unequalled. Many craftspeople are involved in the manufacture of this service. The pieces are molded and assembled by hand, and each and every piece is hand-glazed to ensure the best result.
